Start with the job description

Read the posting and list the top skills required. Then map each one to something you have already done, even in a different context.

Focus on universal skills with proof

Communication, project management, problem solving, data analysis, and leadership are valuable almost everywhere. Pair them with specific outcomes.

  • Communication: presented to 30 stakeholders monthly
  • Project management: delivered 12 campaigns on deadline
  • Problem solving: reduced support ticket backlog by 25%

Use the right vocabulary

Each industry has its own terms. A project in one field might be called a program, initiative, or campaign in another. Mirror the language of the posting.
